Prince George's County's First African-American Settlement (1924)

Black History Month 2026
This year’s Black History Month theme is "A Century of Black History Commemorations," chosen by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH).
This theme marks the 100th anniversary of the first Negro History Week launched by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926. It highlights the evolution of Black history, culture, and community over the past century, celebrating a long, impactful legacy.

In North Brentwood, we're having Black History Month events each Saturday at North Brentwood Community Center!
